Empowering Learning
What is Perspectius?

  • Can you really put dyslexia behind you?
  • When you have stopped the confusion with letters and numbers, you have a fabulous skill called Perspectius

Does you child have Perspectius? The Genius level ability to see different perspectives?

Many people have this innate skill, few realise that not everyone finds this skill quite so easy.

Remember when you were young playing with bricks, construction toys, etc, could you turn the pieces around in your mind's eye and easily see how they fit together?

When you were older and perhaps moving into a new house/flat, could you imagine exactly what it would be like with new furniture?

And then in your working life, you may find the ability of seeing how things fit together may be invaluable - perhaps for fitting double glazing, carpentry, hair dressing and even constructing flat pack furniture at home. To be able to imagine what something is going to look like and work out how to construct it, is an invaluable skill. Some people seem to have the Clark Kent skill of "Superman", looking over your glasses and literally seeing all the components flying into place.

And then there are the people who you can suggest any topic to, and they can see multiple perspectives instantly. They can emotionally look at it from one angle and then another. Like this you can often see both sides of an argument. A valuable skill sometimes and at other times somewhat confusing and can lead to overload or inertia.

People who can hold multiple perspectives, visually or emotionally, are invariably very talented. You have only to look at the great inventors and you will see masters of seeing a different perspective, Perspectius.

Faraday could "see" the lines of force of an electromagnetic field. Others of his time had to prove they existed, Faraday knew they were there - of course, in his day, such an assertion may have initially been met by skepticism, just like learning to spell visually is today!

People who have developed dyslexia, have used this same strategy for words, that works so well for 3D objects, emotional or contextual perspectives.

But words are 2 dimensional and don't lend themselves to finding another perspective by rotation, shifting the letters around etc.

Once you can help people stabilise their visual field for words, their confusion with the written language will reduce.

Some people get concerned that Dyslexia is part of their skill to see different perspectives and if they lose their dyslexia they will lose Perspectius too. These are independent facts that don't need to be generalised together. Helping someone stabilise their visual field is quite simple and then they can enjoy their Perspectius for other aspects of their lives as their dyslexia retreats
