For many people, health is
just something taken for granted other than the odd
cold or childhood illness; until they are unfortunate
enough to contract something more major that pulls
them up short and forces them to reassess their lifestyle.
On the other hand, there
are those who suffer from one cold after another, or
who pick up any bug that's 'doing the rounds' and seem
to be constantly moaning about their health.
Then there are those who
just never seem to get ill at all. How are they different?
Taking care of one's health
is about releasing negative thinking, understanding
what triggers your stress and learning how to reduce
it, helping your immune system work at its best, ensuring
you get enough exercise (not necessarily at a gym!)
and understanding how to get the best from what you
eat.
Why beat yourself up with "should" and "mustn't" when
you can change the way you speak to yourself and become
your body's best friend.
A lot can be attributed to
a positive attitude and the mind & body connection;
for what the mind believes, the body will do it's best
to achieve.
Sarah Knighton & Olive
Hickmott have taken this premise one step further and
written a book called You too can ‘do’ Health! which
is launched to coincide with International Be Healthy
Day on 29th October 2007; You too can 'do' health,
is an easy read, telling the story of one person's
journey of self development and self awareness in their
attainment of the health they want and deserve.
If you are ready to take
responsibility for your health, then this is a really
good book to start with and a great Christmas present
for your nearest and dearest!
